Kim Ki Yol, Mayor of Wonju
Dear friends of Jiayi Wind Orchestra from Taiwan.
I have the great pleasure of welcoming all of you at the 4th tattoo festival here in Wonju, Korea. I heartily thank Mr. Director, Mr. Conductor and all members of the orchestra for visiting Wonju growing into a city of wind Orchestra.
Bugles convey not only "beginning and ending" but "joy and sorrow" as well. The sound of bugles, wherever it comes from, is the sound indispensible to us. We are eager to hear bugles resounding harmoniously along with other musical instruments.
You are here to present us with such wonderful music. I sincerely wish we could enjoy your fantastic performance which would remain vivid in our memory for a long time.
Wonju Appassonata has a history of 25 years and always provides us with fabulous performances for the sake of citizens. It is a pride of Wonju. I firmly believe Wonju Appassonata will keep contributing to the development of wind orchestra and definitely become a great orchestra pursuing continuous progress in its field through international cultural exchange.
It's my sincere wish that Wonju and Jiayi - both orchestras make still greater contributions to the international wind orchestra festival with their upscale and touching performances. I'd like to express my heartfelt gratitude to conductors, all members of both orchestras and the parties concerned including city government officials for all the efforts you have shown to us so far.
I wish you had a fruitful and enjoyable trip to Wonju this time.
I wish everybody "good luck" and "success."
Thank you very much.
